Permissions

The following is the list of permissions requested by GoodNews and what they are used for.

Accounts
Used to list your existing google accounts, to add an additional google account and to login to google reader using the selected google account. This does not provide access to your account’s password — this is encapsulated by the android system. GoodNews also allows you to login explicitly bypassing android’s account system by specifying your google mail address and password — in this case GoodNews will have access to your password, but it will not use it for anything evil.
Internet Access
Mainly used for the synchronization with google reader. Other usages: crash reports, license checks, advertisements, usage statistics (using flurry analytics).
Read Telephone State
Used to pause podcast playback when a telephone call starts and to resume after the call ended.
Write to external Storage
GoodNews allows you to store everything on the external storage (SD card).
Deactivate Standby Mode
If a synchronisation, a podcast download or podcast playback is active, GoodNews keeps your device’s processor alive to continue this process even when the screen is turned off. There will be always a notification in the status bar when GoodNews keeps your device alive.
Read Network/Wifi State
Determine whether a connection is available or not for adequate error handling.
Change Network/Wifi State
GoodNews listens to network/wifi state changes to be able to resume the continuous sync as soon as a network connection is available again.
Auto start after Boot
Required to reactivate the continuous sync, after a reboot.
Install Shortcut
In the podcast settings GoodNews allows you to create a shortcut on your home screen, that opens directly the play list.
Check License
Necessary to ask Google play whether a possibly installed license module has been legally purchased.
